BlendJet 2: The Must-Have Portable Blender.

You may have seen people using a hand blender in YouTube videos to whip up a smoothie before heading out for a run. They manage to get the consistency just right with minimal fuss and easy cleanup. The device they’re often using is likely the BlendJet 2, which has now made its way to India. This well-known brand, designed in California, markets its portable blender for a variety of uses, including making smoothies, juices, dips, salad dressings, frozen lattes, and milkshakes. If you think the Stanley Cup craze is big in the US, just try searching for BlendJet. We had the opportunity to review this product, and here are our detailed thoughts.

EASY TO USE

If you’ve used an earlier version of the BlendJet while traveling, you’ll notice a significant improvement with the new model. The container size has been increased to 475ml, offering more capacity for your favorite drinks. For convenience, the jar features measurement markings on the side, making it easy to measure ingredients for smoothies and drinks accurately. Each hour of charge provides up to 15 blends, making it perfect for road trips as it doesn’t need to be plugged in to operate.

One of the standout features of the BlendJet 2 is its self-cleaning mode. By simply adding water and soap and then hitting blend, the machine cleans itself, saving you time and effort. The BlendJet 2 also includes several useful modes. The blend mode operates on a 20-second cycle, and you can press the button again to stop it midway if needed. Pulse mode is ideal for making salsa dips and chutneys; just double-press the power button to activate this mode.

The Lock mode prevents the blender from accidentally turning on while you’re drinking directly from the container. The BlendJet 2 is designed to be moderately quiet. While it does make some noise, it’s significantly quieter than most other smoothie makers, which often sound like dentist drills. This is a notable improvement for those who prefer a quieter blending experience.

PERFORMANCE

The BlendJet 2 is powered by a 5V electric motor that spins at an impressive 275 times per second. This speed is quite fast for a battery-operated device and allows it to prepare drinks in as little as 20 to 40 seconds. We tested it by making a pineapple smoothie and watermelon juice, both of which turned out well. The pulse mode was perfect for creating a chunky salsa dip to enjoy with tacos. While some small pieces of fruit remained at the bottom of the jar, this was acceptable and didn’t affect the overall experience.

The machine is designed with a bit of weight to ensure stability during blending. You don’t need to hold it while the motor is running, which is a nice convenience. It also handled ice cubes effortlessly, producing a nice slushy texture. For tougher blends, you might need to give the fruit pieces an extra spin or two to achieve a smooth consistency. Although summer isn’t the prime season for picnics, this hand blender proves to be a handy companion for winter outings.

SHOULD YOU BUY IT?

There are a few important things to remember when using the BlendJet 2. Before crushing ice, always add some liquid. The blades are designed to be offset from the center, which helps them effectively blend ingredients in a spin cycle. During our use, the blades performed well without any rattling. It’s crucial to understand that this blender is not a replacement for a traditional juicer. Traditional juicers offer more power and space, allowing you to make larger portions and blend a wider variety of fruits at once. With the BlendJet 2, if you want to add multiple types of fruits, you might need to do so in parts to ensure the motor can handle the varying textures.

One minor issue we encountered with the packaging was the inclusion of a USB-A to USB-C cable. The cable is quite short, and most people have now moved to USB-C to USB-C charging, making the older USB-A power bricks less common. Despite this, we didn’t experience any issues with the review unit, and the current models being sold are not affected by the previous recall in the US.

For those interested in additional accessories, the BlendJet website offers an XL Jar that can hold up to 945ml, as well as an insulated sleeve to keep your drink cool during workouts. Replacement base gaskets are also available, ensuring the blender remains functional for a long time. As for long-term usage, we’ll need about a month to fully evaluate its performance, but so far, the BlendJet 2 is proving to be a reliable and efficient portable blender.
